breakfast pirate!

AHAHAHAHA!!!

When we're younger, when we're in school lots of the students in my school would bring our own food in the small container for us to eat during the school break at around 10.30am. In malay we call it "bekal" or loosely translated as supplies. Though I notice there are less and less kids who carry it nowadays.

Apparently the fast pace rat race has also affect our children, nowadays most parents just gave them some cash and off you go to school. It also have to do with the standard of living, nowadays most working parents view the effort and time it took to prepare these food are just not worth it, it is lot easier to give them cash and let them buy what they want at the school's canteen. Though I seriously suspect the majority of 'em spent it at the ice-cream vendor outside of the school's compound (I know I would!)

Pity the kids then cause I'm sure they'll miss out on the fun involving the many aspect involved in bekal's exchange and the intricacies involved in the negotiation process. It is seriously fun.

When one don't like one's bekal with its sad looking loaf of oatmeal bread and some veges in it and look accusingly at another's who have nasi lemak with telur and kangkung, then negotiations will take place. There are those who even have an MOU where they exchanged it on regular basis, somehow they took a liking for the other mom's cooking, lucky they only exchanged bekal and not the mum :P Some even have somewhat of a trade pact (much like ASEAN) where everybody will take a lil' bit from each other's container and they'll have the widest variety of food, nevermind the quantity of each. While, there are some just act like the US and be a big bully and just raid another kid's container and suddenly he got the best mix and the biggest bekal around. All in the name of tummy security ;)

annddd.d... This morning I went a step further, I actually took someone's breakfast. ALL of it and now it is sitting on my table in its plastic wrapping. AHAHHAA!!! But seriously, no self-respecting working adult would bring bekal to the office innit? So basically I'm just doing a service and save this poor soul from being ridiculed at her office. See! How thoughtful of me :D

ehehheheehe

p/s To N, thanks! It actually taste quite good! :P
